Our baby and toddler loved this meal and so did we! I blended the sauce for this only to use our new blender, it tastes great either way. I also use the tomato sauce recipe with lots of other dishes like on pasta or chicken. I also use the meatballs as different meals like with gravy and mash. So you can mix and match this recipe with other foods too!
Ingredients for the tomato sauce
- 1 Onion chopped
- 1 Garlic clove crushed
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1 Tin of chopped tomatoes
- 8 Ripe tomatoes chopped (optional)
Ingredients for the meatballs:
- 500g Beef mince
- 1 Onion
- 70g Breadcrumbs (I used Paxo)
- Chicken stock cube in 30ml water
To make the tomato sauce, sautee the onion for a few minutes until soft and then add the garlic and sautee for a further minute. Add all of the remaining tomato sauce ingredients to the onions and garlic. Bring the sauce to the boil, then simmer for 10 minutes. Blend the sauce if desired or leave to one side without blending.

To make the meatballs, mix all of the meatballs ingredients into a bowl. Once the mixture for meatballs is thoroughly mixed, start separating the mixture into small meatballs. Heat 1tbsp of oil in a frying pan, then fry the meatballs on a medium heat for 5-10 minutes until cooked through.
Heat the sauce on a low heat whilst you’re cooking the meatballs.
